Ironmen Falter For Fifth Consecutive Time

The Ironmen (10-10) dropped their fifth straight game when they fell to the Blast Saturday night, 10-6.

The Irons opened up the scoring about six minutes into the contest when midfielder Juninho da Silva netted his sixth goal of the season. But Baltimore stormed right back in the opening minute of the second quarter on a Mike Lookingland tally to even the score at two-apiece.

And then...well, I lost the WCBM live web feed; which, judging from the final score wasn’t such a bad thing after all. See Big Apple Soccer for a full game summary:

Despite the loss, the Irons remain in fifth place in the standings. Sixth place Monterrey now trails New Jersey by one game and Philadelphia and California are only one and a half behind. There are six berths available in the current MISL playoff format.

Here are a few more quick notes from the game:

  • Ironmen goalkeeper Lé Clembo do Carmo made his MISL debut in the match. I am not sure what Tony Meola’s status is at the moment, but will keep you updated if information becomes available.
  • Irons' midfielder Goran Vasic had a goal and an assist in the match. The assist was the 225th of his career.
  • Juninho da Silva netted a pair of two pointers.
